Kannada Sahitya Sammelana is a summit held yearly to encourage, improve, preserve, our third oldest original language in the world and prestigious regional language, Kannada. Ideally this began as a platform for the literary crowns to present their work. Preserve, encourage were alarming words used in a media, they might be right as Kannada speaking people are much influenced by English and it is hard for me to find people speaking strictly in Kannada language. I had heard about this summit just in my school day text books. This year I had an opportunity to realize much because of my friend, colleague GURU who had plans to go to Chitradurga, where the summit was held, which is about 200 KMS from Bangalore.
